Gritty. Urban. Fashion meets rock and roll is how you would describe the John Varvatos and his line of clothes for the urban man. His store opened recently at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto and designer himself making several appearances on the fashion scene. The store hosted Varvatos at a private cocktail reception with an incredible stylish crowd mingling with hockey players, TV and music industry personalities, and the fashion set. The incredibly stylish crowd was there for the launch of his book ROCK IN FASHION.
If you’re a fan of Varvatos you already know that musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, David Bowie serve as his inspiration. ROCK IN FASHION documents the elements of rock style. It shares his personal style notes and reveals his perspective on how musicians’ evolving styles have impacted fashion and pop culture over time.
I’m kicking myself for NOT getting the book that night and have him sign it on the spot but the line was waaaaay too long…even for this private event! But it’s on my wishlist for the holidays.
The store itself is like walking into the rock and roll hall of fame. Walls are filled with images of the most well known musicians along side guitars and chandeliers. It’s rock and roll with class.
