Ossington Stop invites you, yes YOU, to a free lunch!

If you’ve got time to check out this new Dundas Street West eatery in Toronto please do! Even better, we’ve just found out that they would like to offer a free lunch to you. Yes, you…lucky you’re reading this post, right?

Ossington StopThe new late night dining destination near Dundas and Ossington is upping the ante on the snack bar concept. Aptly named Ossington Stop (1164 Dundas Street West), this small yet eclectic eatery offers an affordable and unique menu filled with small bites of comfort food classics with a gourmet twist – served until 4am on weekends, to boot. And to introduce themselves to the ‘hood, Ossington Stop is offering everyone free lunch on July 17th.

Brought to us from owner William Tavares (Fishbar), Ossington Stop is intended to be the perfect late night stop for quick bites and cheap drinks. Tavares created Ossington Stop to offer the west side a place to indulge all day and into the wee hours, perfect for quick bites to extended stays to take-out for lunch, dinner, and summertime picnics. The menu represents a tour de force of staple eats re-imagined for the gourmand: Soft Shell Beef Tacos ($3.50 each) are succulent to savour; Sausage Pies ($8 each) will surely satisfy the appetites of the city’s foodies; Russian Steamed Buns with Pork and Cabbage ($4 each) open up the gates to Eastern Europe at this west end locale.

The beverage program is equally impressive for frugal foodies, with beers coming in at only $4 a pop, $5 glasses of wine, and shots for only $4 each ($7 for doubles).

FREE LUNCH DETAILS:

To embrace the new space, Ossington Stop is giving out the following free food to passersby and patrons from 12pm to 5pm on Thursday, July 17th…

–        Steamed Bun w/ pork, cabbage, and carrot salad

–        Chicken n’ Waffles w/ roasted chicken, a Southern savory waffle, and honey garlic sauce

–        Baked BBQ Side Ribs w/ a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce and the “deep goodness” slaw

Why the free grub? “I just wanted to do something special for a neighbourhood that has always embraced myself and my endeavours,” says Tavares in a nod to his other restaurant, Ossington Avenue’s much-beloved Fishbar. “It’s just a small token of appreciation for a community that has given so much to me personally.”

Ossington Stop is now officially open at 1164 Dundas Street West, Toronto.

The current hours are: Mondays – Closed; Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays – 12pm to 12am; Thursdays through Saturdays – 12pm to 4am.
