Best NEW Cocktails for The Holiday Season

The festive season brings us together with friends and family. Even our neighbours like to gather around the fireplace for an evening of merriment. So, while you’re planning out your entertaining schedule you may be interested in a few new cocktail recipes to go with those canapes or to ring in the new year. Here are some of my favourite that have caught my attention and have tried out …with friends, of course!

Green & Black’s is the world leader in organic and Fair Trade chocolate (the ginger chocolate is my personal favourite). this heart-warming cocktail is perfect for winter entertaining. This recipe was created by The Churchill Bar and Terrace in London, UK.

Green & Black's Organic Chocolate Flip Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate Flip

  • 1 1/2 oz  Old Engine Oil Stout
  • 1 oz Bacardi Oakheart
  • 1 oz double cream
  • 3/4 oz brown sugar
  • 3 oz cream
  • 6 blocks of Green & Black’s Organic 85% Cacao Chocolate

Melt chocolate in double boiler. Then add remaining ingredients. Heat on steam wand. Serve in an old fashioned glass and garnish with shaved chocolate flakes.

PINNACLE Vodka from France has over 40 different flavours which makes for a very fun party! I had left out three bottles (Whipped, Cinnabon, and Tropical flavours) at a recent party with several ingredients with recipe cards and everyone had fun making their own creations. This holiday season I would recommend stocking up also on flavours like Pinnacle’s Salted Caramel, Peppermint Bark, and Pomegranate.

PINNACLE Naughty List Hot Chocolate

  • 1 part Pinnacle Whipped Vodka
  • 1 part Hot Chocolate

Pour into a festive mug and garnish with whipped cream and cherries.

CRYSTAL HEAD Vodka can really get you into the spirit of the season! This favourite vodka made in Canada is an award winner. Interesting to note that the vodka is filtered seven times – three of which go through layers of semi precious crystals known as Herkimer diamonds. It’s pure vodka with nothing else added.

Crystalized with Crystal Head Vodka

CRYSTALIZED by Crystal Head Vodka

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz Crystal Head Vodka
  • 1 oz . St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 3 oz. Prosecco
  • 1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
  • thin slice of lime

Directions:

In a shaker filled with ice, add Crystal Head, St-Germain and lime juice.

Shake well then strain into a martini glass.

Slowly top with Prosecco.

Garnish with a thin slice of lime

BAD SANTA by The Forth, TorontoThe Forth is a great spot to meet with friends after work, on the weekends and just even to rest your feet in between your busy shopping day. Located along the Danforth (Toronto) it gives a bird’s eye view of the busy bustling street.

  • 1 oz. Four Roses Bourbon
  • 1 cup Fresh apple and pear puree
  • simple syrup to taste
  • Dash of Christmas bitters
  • Dash of Nutmeg

Mix together and serve!

 

Shiny Apple Cider is made with locally grown apples from Ontario and also prides themselves as gluten free and vegan. You can serve the cider over ice and enjoy on it’s own, but hey, it’s the holiday season so you can kick it up a notch!

Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Shiny Apple Cider is a fresh take on the popular cider drink and different from your regular cider. Small Talk Vineyards has spiced it up by adding Riesling to create a unique flavour.

  • 3 oz Shiny Apple Cider
  • 1 oz icewine
  • ice

Pour Apple Cider and icewine in a martini shaker with ice. Shake! Pour out the mixture without the ice, into a sugar-rimmed glass.
