I’d like to think I’m a creative person but my jaw absolutely dropped to the floor yesterday! I was invited to attend the fashion event of the season – the Pink and White Cashmere Gala in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Twenty of Canada’s most cherished fashion designers featured their one-of-a-kind couture pieces in a spectacular runway show. Designers like my personal favourites, Lucian Matis and DUY Nguyen, embraced the challenge of creating stunning dresses all made with Cashmere Bathroom Tissue.
WHAT? Yes! I KNOW what you’re thinking! In fact, this show was the 10th year anniversary of this brilliant concept to bring the fashion industry together with the cause to raise awareness and much needed funds to continue supporting the Foundation’s research.
Swarovski Jewellery glistened against the intricate designs as glided on the runway at the Art Gallery of Ontario. With chandaliers and cocktails, the beautiful crowd swooned and oooh’d at every designer’s reveal.
The show also featured highlights from designers since its debut in 2004 to honour the first nine years. It’s incredible to learn that there have been over 125 Canadian designers involved over the years!
The vivacious model Stacey McKenzie rocked the runway in a gorgeous Rita Tesolin designed bib necklace made with over 600 blossoms made with Cashmere BT and International photographer, and rising star, Caitlin Cronenberg was also spotted at the show. Cronenberg actually photographed the entire collection and the porfolio was unveiled yesterday at the show as well. You can view the images online at whitecashmerecollection.ca
While the runway show is a creative and fun challenge to the design community, it is also an important fundraising awareness campaign. Now, here’s your chance to get involved! Go to cashmere.ca and check out this year’s White Cashmere Collection where you can VOTE for your favourite designer from this year’s show. For every vote, Cashmere (Kruger Paper Products) will donate $1 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation!
I’m having a tough time deciding! The designs were incredible and kinda puts my bathroom tissue pompoms to shame. But hey, if I was going to wrap myself in bathroom tissue… it would definitely be Cashmere!
