Menswear Designer Profile: Killigrew

During fashion week last week I was invited to the Toronto Fashion Incubator’s Press and Industry Brunch to meet a few emerging Canadian designers. Killigrew was one of a few that caught my eye. This casual menswear design team lead by Cleo and Mitchell Darragh have created some of the softest tees I’ve ever touched.

Cleo and Mitchell Darragh - Designers of KilligrewThe spring 2014 line dubbed “The Funk Collection” brings out a freshness that is a reflection of the season. After a long cold winter, we WANT that feel good vibe. The collection takes its cue from the contemporary urban man with a playful, energetic, and spirited sense of style. It extends itself with a nod to the genre of music that is free of inhibitions, a joy of self, and a joy of life. It’s vintage in feel but without the “age”.

I mentioned how soft the tees were. At first touch I could easily picture my honey with one on and me cuddling right next to him — human pillow. It’s enticing! The cottons they’ve sourced are the finest available in the world and the designers themselves had sourced them from Peru while on vacation. Killigrew‘s cotton products are GOTS certified – an international certificate for clothes and textiles that meet the ¬†high level of criteria that includes both social and environmental demands.

Killigrew is sold in Toronto at Over the Rainbow, Model Citizen, Camicie and other shops across Ontario as well as Halifax. You can also check out their current line at
