Winterlicious is just about to roll-out in Toronto. This annual event is something I really look forward to each year. After a month of “detoxing” everyone is now ready to climb out of their cocoons and get out once again. Hey, for us in the city, it’s a warm welcome from the cold days and nights, right?
There are over 200 restaurants across the city participating in the event that starts January 30 and runs to February 12, 2015. The choices are staggering from lunch offers to dinner menus and special culinary events. All prix fixe menus are posted online to see: Winterlicious with lunch menus offered at $18, $23, and $28. Dinner menus at $25, $35, and $45.
So, how do you decide which ones to book into? For many, it’s a chance to try a new restaurant or an opportunity to revisit some of our favourite hot spots. I also follow the hashtag #LiciousTO as many will post up pics of their dishes. But for sure you’ll want to book your reservations, it’s a popular time of year!
For many restaurants it’s a time that they will showcase some new dishes and others to feature plates that they are made famous for.
Yesterday, Cafe Boulud at the Four Seasons Hotel hosted media for a sneak peek of their Winterlicious and Valentines menus. The selection is inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud’s French roots, inflected with international flavours.
I’m a personal fan of Cafe Boulud as the food and service has consistently delivered and what one would expect at the Four Seasons. The Winterlicious offerings definitely maintains that high level of quality with their well thought-out dinner menu selection ($45) .
Heres’ just a sampling of what to expect during Winterlicious….
