Runway Report SS16: Whitney Linen

With the cooling temperatures, it’s clear that Fall is here in Toronto. On Friday, it was so nice to be brought back to a summery state of mind though with Whitney Linen’s Women’s Ready-To-Wear and Home Linen Collection for Spring/Summer 2016.

Hosted at Only One Gallery, Whitney Linen put on quite the show!

The night was brought to life when the models started strutting down the runway. Introducing their new collaboration with men’s designer Marlon Durrant, it was the debut of the much-anticipated Whitney Linen’s Men’s collection. Both the women’s and men’s line really blew me away. I’ve never thought of linen being a textile that could be used to make such versatile pieces. The pieces were all very polished and pushed the boundaries of what is traditionally expected from linen.

Before the show ended, the audience was surprised by some special guests! The men’s line was fashioned by some big names in the boxing community, such as Oleksandr Teslenko, Zsolt Daranyi Jr., Michael Brandon, and Dillon “Big Country” Carman.

After the show, there was a marketplace display in the back to have a look at the Whitney Linen Home Collection, as well as the option to purchase any of the pieces that were shown on the runway.

The energy was positively booming by the end of the night; you could tell that everyone was so happy with the results.

Overall, the night was a dazzling success. Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves, myself included, and Whitney Linen should be very proud of their new collections!
