We had the opportunity to go backstage to visit with team essie several times this week at the World MasterCard Fashion Week. The ever welcoming Rita Remark, Lead Nail Artist for essie Canada and Global Lead Educator, dashed in between shows and doing her approvals on models to meeting with media and beauty bloggers. This is probably our favourite part of the Fashion Week scene…to see the organized chaos behind the runway.
Rita tells us for the Mackage Spring Summer ’16 show was a reflection of the edgy urban label. It’s smart and bold. The look was described as graphic, refined, negative-space mani. She used essie’s naughty nautical, licorice, and master plan.
Noted on the runways in New York as well as Toronto: Forget the almond shaped nails and stiletto shaped nails for the spring. What’s trending is a more natural shape. Rita had mentioned that in the SS16 shows she’s been working on aren’t using any fake nails on the models and it’s what they see as a strong trend….so work with what you got come spring time!
Rita had also mentioned that the matte look is a strong look for spring. It can be achieved by using essie’s matte about you top coat to create a smoothe matte finish.
