The incredible performance line up for the Apple Music Festival’s 10th Anniversary was just announced! Held in London’s historical Roundhouse in London, UK, this 10-night event will feature live performances by well-known musicians including Alicia Keys, Bastille, Britney Spears, Calvin Harris, Chance The Rapper, Elton John, Michael Buble, OneRepublic, Robbie Williams and The 1975.
The Roundhouse is considered one of the best venues in London for the arts and the history is equally as interesting. This legendary space started as a railway repair shed in 1847. For less than two decades it was functioning to until railway technology rendered it obsolete. It then became a warehouse for a liquor company until World War II, when the Gibley company moved their goods for fear of being an easy target. The Gibley’s continued to own the real estate but in 1964 the Roundhouse began it’s new life as a cultural venue. Playwright Arnold Wesker had the idea of arts and culture going beyond the elite. It was a place for emerging artists and continued on in the 1970s and while Rock Musicals and experimental theatre was housed here, it also brought in the Punk era with musicians like The Clash, The Damned, and the Ramones. However by early 1980s funding was still an issue and the venue was forced to close and sat derelict until the 2000s. Today, it’s become not only a venue for music and performing arts but also an international hub and state-of-the-art creative centre for the youth to develop their skills in performing arts, music and media.
It’s a fitting space for the annual Apple Music Festival that is viewed by millions around the world and we’ve enjoyed hosting several parties with friends around the live performances on our big screens at home.
Performances will be made available live and on-demand exclusively to Apple Music members in 100 countries on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, Apple TV and Android phones. You can also expect exclusive playlists, artist news and backstage interviews.
Fans in the UK can apply to win tickets to attend the events via Apple Music as well as through media partners.
