Hard to believe that it’s already been 5 years since Butter Avenue opened their quaint shop uptown in Toronto. Since then, they’ve grown and expanded to include another shop in the revived Queen Street West area. In between, they’ve been seen hosting pop-up kiosks at Holt Renfrew and other retailers across the city while keeping a robust business catering to corporate requests, events and weddings.
Butter Avenue has been noted on “Best of” lists including recently in Toronto Life Magazine’s Best Bakeries in the city! And we totally understand why! They don’t compromise on quality of ingredients and are relentless on making sure everything is perfect…okay, and a side of fun has us returning too! As their business continues to grow they’ve added more baking staff to accommodate the demand for their macarons and decadent desserts. If you’ve visited their shop over the past year, you’ll have noticed introduction of baked goods like French Caneles and quiches. If you’ve partaken in an afternoon tea, you would have been lucky enough to try a few other items that are not usually on their menu. So good and so worth it!…I swear I’ll get to that diet later.
To celebrate the 5th year anniversary, Butter Avenue has brought back their very first Christmas macaron collection. The “Nutcracker” includes six incredible flavours including:
- Clara: classis marshmallow and cranberry jelly
- Nutcracker Prince: 66% dark chocolate and hazelnut creme
- Chinese Dance: oolong tea and osmanthus creme
- Russian Doll: candy cane and white chocolate ganache
- Arabian Coffee: organic espresso creme
- Mother Ginger: house made gingerbread creme
In addition to this special holiday collection, we are head over heels on their holiday desserts. Perfect for picking up on your way to that dinner party that you’ve promised to bring dessert to (call ahead to reserve them just in case! They sell out quickly for walk-ins!)
We adore the new holiday edition choux “Speculoos” Santa creme puff dessert made with milk chantilly, house made sable and Speculoos cream. The cakes are spectacular and real show-stoppers this season!
