It’s true that the sneaker culture remains strong and if you’re in the game, you’re keeping track of the latest drops from every major shoe brand out there. Toronto has a fair share of retailers from independents to major chains so do we really need another one?
YES. WE. DO.
Footaction officially opens it’s first store in Canada TODAY (April 7, 2017) at the Toronto Eaton Centre and is a sprawling store that is more like 5 stores in one. It has almost a boutique feel with the brands it houses. The concept is to offer the best edited selection of athletic lifestyle brands an looks. According to their website, it’s “uniquely positioned at the intersection of sport and style.”
Inside you discover a large Nike Kicks Lounge, Puma Select, and Adidas Collective all focused with a incredible selection. As you enter the main doors you’ll find street style wear from tees to backpacks. A tucked away (and you can almost miss it) is the room I completely fell head over heels for is dubbed Capsule 416 dedicated to featuring some cutting edge and premium lines. The cache of this particular section of the Footaction store is the lines carried will only be available for a limited time. During the first week of opening, they are featuring a capsule collection from Publish – a lifestyle line that offers refined, but utilitarian pieces. I’ve learned that the designers of this line established themselves around the classic cut and sew methods of manufacturing bringing classics and timelessness of style to right to the core of their whole being. Makes you appreciate the work that goes into each piece, right?
At the pre-opening party last night, influencers in the realm as well as media were invited to experience the store. Graffiti artist SKAM was doing a live installation and DJ Vekked definitely kept us movin’ and we could have stayed but someone has a presentation to do today! I have to admit that the staff was pumped! Their energy level was on fire and professionalism definitely noted! Serious. No snubbing and very knowledgeable. On a side note, I also spotted a little one (probably no more than 3 years old) in a pair of Yeezy’s at last night’s party. WAY TOO CUTE!
You’ll want to follow Footaction on social for announcements of special events and new releases.
