What’s in Mark McEwan’s Rosé Picnic Basket?

I was feeling a bit nostalgic about the simple pleasures of summer days spent in the park when I found out about the Inaugural Rosé Picnic event that’s happening this coming weekend in Toronto. The vision of a soft picnic blanket with a food spread that inspires nothing more than pure enjoyment and time well spent with family and friends. It’s been a while. Our summers are short so we want to get out side as much as we can.

The Rosé Picnic (Saturday, July 22, 12 noon to 6 pm) takes place at Garrison Common, Fort York, rain or shine. It’s a celebration of summer right downtown that will include food and rose wine (of course), but also live music, DJs and fun things to see and do. Attendees are encouraged to dress in pink and/or white to mark the occasion. Part proceeds of this event  will be donated to Rethink Breast Cancer – a not-for-profit organization that raises awareness and support for young women who lives have been affected by this disease.

Attendees can wander through the food tents and sample some tasty bites and sip on California’s Napa Valley Hogwash Rosé  (not yet available in Canada) but for those who want a full picnic experience, Chef Mark McEwan’s team are creating beautiful food baskets that include some favourites from his establishments including ONE, Bymark, Fabbrica, and McEwan’s, all available for pre-order. When you arrive, you’ll be given a special picnic blanket to keep and your basket that comes complete with a full meal and all the necessities.
